Frequently Asked Questions
When do you curl?
We curl most Wednesdays and alternating Sundays from 7:45-10:30pm.
League Play generally runs September-November (Fall), January-March (Winter), and March-May (Spring) - some years we run a Summer league.
Learn-to-Curls and Clinics typically occur on Wednesday nights between league seasons.
Is it cold? What should I wear?
The air temperature inside the Chalet is usually set between 41-50°F (5-10°C) - standing around feels cold, but sweeping quickly works up a sweat.
We recommend wearing the following:
- Flexible, athletic pants (jeans are NOT recommended).
- Clean, flat-soled athletic shoes.
- 2-3 layers of shirts, including long- and short-sleeve.
Do I need any equipment to play?
No - the club provides everything you need to start (and continue) curling, including step-on sliders and brooms.
Experienced players often purchase equipment to improve their play, but this is not necessary.
How much does it cost?
Learn-to-curl sessions are $20 per person for approximately 2.5 hours of instruction and play.
The cost of each league depends on season length and frequency, but we aim to keep it at (or below) $20 per night.
How do I join a league?
We begin registration for leagues 3-4 weeks before they begin.
Send us a message here giving us your name and contact info, and we'll be sure to contact you when registration is open.
What if I'm not very competitive?
Don't worry! Our club has a wide variety of experience levels, and you will fit in no matter your skill level. We aim to put new players on teams with experienced curlers, so that the teams are better matched and beginners can learn from their teammates. Overall, curling as a sport is more social than competitive, and our club is the same way.
Is there an age limit to curl?
We require minors to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Otherwise all ages are welcome to play - our club includes teenagers and nonagenarians.
Do you have drop-in curling?
We do not currently have a pick-up curling night. Players who cannot commit to a league season are encouraged to sign up as a substitute, which is advertised the same time as we run sign-ups for our leagues.
Visiting curlers are encouraged to contact the Drawmaster if you are interested in single-night play.
The fee is $20 per night, but there is no guarantee of a game if you have not contacted us first.
How do I get information about upcoming events?
We aim to keep this website up to date, as well as our Facebook page updated with information on leagues and bonspiels.
