 The US national play downs are here and the wonderful team at the 12th End Sports Network are covering the event again this year. Add Comment For those who have learned to curl but are unsure if they want to join a league you are in luck! This season we have another drop in night next Sunday. The fee will be $15. Try to be at the Ice Chalet around 8:15 so we can organize teams before the ice becomes available. You can sign up for the night on Facebook. See you at the Ice Chalet!  If you have always wanted to try curling here is your chance. We have three learn to curls scheduled for December 12th, January 9th & 13th! We will teach you the rules of the game as well as how to throw and sweep a stone. By the end of the night we will have you curling an end or two. Curling starts at 8:30 PM and goes till 10:30 PM try to show up around 8:10 PM so we can get everyone organized before the ice becomes available. Make sure to wear loose fitting pants and clean flat rubber soled shoes. We will provide all of the curling equipment. There is a $10 fee for everyone 18 and up. It is free for anyone under 18 but you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Congratulations to the bonspiel winners: team CHEESY BEAVERS (pictured here doing a jig on the ice during the "piping" ceremony). Thank you to all the participants that came down to support our club. Your enthusiasm, comraderie and generousity is what makes the Rocky Top Open one of the best around. We hope to see you back next year! And a HUGE thank you to the ice crew, who give up their time and work tirelessley around the clock for a week to give us professional grade ice to play on. You guys are the best! General registration for the ROCKY TOP OPEN Bonspiel is NOW OPEN. This year, teams will be selected by random drawing. You must enter your team information here no later than January 27, 11:59 PM EST to be entered into the drawing. Planning for the 2012 Bonspiel has begun! The bonspiel will be held June 1-3, 2012 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Registration will open in February; check the bonspiel page for updates. We'll be hosting two learn-to-curl events in November (November 20 and 30) and at the beginning of January (11 and 15). Want to try your hand at this unique sport? This is the perfect time to come try it out! Even if you've never set foot (or broom) on ice, we provide all the equipment and instruction you need.
